Have you ever noticed emails with an automatic signature, sometime the sender includes a humorous phrase or thought provoking quote? My current one is, “The trick is to figure out ways to explore the edges of possibility that surround you.”
The reason I use this is to remind me that exploring the edges of possibility is how we grow. The day of our birth is when we start exploring. Where is the food? Who will protect me? It’s how we learn about our little corner of the world.
When I was younger, I realized my Grandmother never learned to drive. Very rare now but 50 years ago, fairly frequent. Now it’s fear of the computer and all the lurking boogeymen.
For some children it’s a path to a comfort zone. For others it’s the start of a lifelong journey. A journey that has no end, yet unlimited rewards. How do we as parents and grandparents make sure the journey doesn’t end in the (Que scary music) Comfort Zone? The ability to accept change actually determines the quality of our entire life.
So how do you not screw up your kid? Please post a comment…I’m exploring.
Remember, there is no stupid question from a 4 year old and think long and hard before you say, “No!”
