GM up 18% in August

DETROIT – General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) today reported total sales of 218,479 vehicles in August, an 18-percent increase compared with August 2010. Retail deliveries were up 22 percent compared with the same month a year ago and accounted for 74 percent of GM sales. Deliveries to fleet customers increased 8 percent. “Our balanced portfolio of trucks and fuel-efficient vehicles like the Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain are helping GM continue to gain market share, which has now increased in seven of the past eight months,” said Don Johnson, vice president, U.S. Sales Operations. “We’re carrying good momentum and we’re cautiously optimistic that we’ll see U.S. economic growth improve in the months ahead.” In August, year-over-year passenger car sales increased 18 percent, crossover sales increased 17 percent and truck sales increased 18 … [Read more...]

GM Sales Increase 8 % in July

DETROIT – Driven by continued strong demand for the company’s lineup of fuel-efficient cars and crossovers, and by improving full-size pickup truck sales, General Motors dealers in the United States reported 214,915 total sales in July, an 8-percent gain compared to July 2010. Retail sales for GM’s brands rose 6 percent for the month compared to a year ago, and were 1 percent higher than June. In July, total sales of the Chevrolet Cruze were above 20,000 for the fourth-straight month, delivering 24,648 units. The 32 miles-per-gallon highway-rated GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Equinox compact crossovers saw a combined retail sales increase of 73 percent during the month. Cadillac Promotes Bieber Auction for Cure Duchenne

DETROIT – Cadillac and Sony Music are auctioning a Justin Bieber prize package to benefit Cure Duchenne, a nonprofit group that funds research and awareness of Duchenne, the most common muscle disease in children. Fans can bid on a trip for two to see pop singer Bieber in concert at select locations on his world tour. The winner of the auction also will receive a copy of Bieber’s new album, “Never Say Never – The Remixes,” which features music from his recent film, “Never Say Never.” The auction begins today and runs through May 1. O’Connell finishes seventh, Pilgrim takes eighth 2011-03-27 St. Petersburg, Fla. – Cadillac Racing placed both cars in the top 10 in the second World Challenge GT race in two days at the Streets of St. Petersburg. Driver Johnny O’Connell started in the fifth position and finished seventh and Andy Pilgrim started sixth and finished eighth. Both cars sustained damage early in the race – O’Connell on the first lap and Pilgrim on the 11th lap – after making contact with competitors. “It’s a good first weekend,” Pilgrim said. “Both cars are sort of OK. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Cadillac Racing finished a final round of track tests this week in Sebring, Fla., as a pair of CTS-V Coupe racecars prepare for their first weekend of competition March 25-27 at the Streets of St. Petersburg. The event will mark Cadillac’s return to the Sports Car Club of America World Challenge GT series. Cadillac last competed in the series in 2007 with a racing version of the CTS-V Sedan.
