The SRT Viper is back. Chrysler announced Tuesday they will restart production of the SRT Viper at the Conner plant in Detroit. “The next generation Viper will make its return to the product lineup in late 2012 as a 2013 model,” said Ralph Gilles, President and Chief Executive Officer - SRT Brand and Motorsports, Chrysler Group LLC. “We’re extremely excited that our ultimate American sports car will continue to live on and be produced exclusively here in the Motor City.” In preparation for the reopening, the Conner facility will begin its transformation by implementing World Class Manufacturing (WCM), a system that is focused on reducing waste and making continuous improvements throughout the assembly process to improve quality and productivity. Reported by: Marty Kasper | My State Line During the month of November Chrysler saw its sales jump by 45-percent, and with the announcement of their latest fuel efficient car, some local dealers expect to see the numbers continue into the New Year. Chrysler's new car will have a sporty look and blend power, fuel economy, and handling. The 2013 Dodge Dart gets its name from a mid-1970's model produced by Dodge. Belvidere Mayor Fred Brereton says the announcement is great for the local economy. "The fact that this car is now being announced, all of that just adds to a more stable situation for the plant, for Belvidere and Boone County, and for the entire region," said Brereton. October Sales Help Automakers 3Q Results

The United States automobile sales increased last month, helping Detroit Automakers to defy the sluggish economy. The carmaker who benefited the most last month was Chrysler. The automaker reported that its auto sales rose by 27 percent. Chrysler reported on Tuesday that the company has sold more than 114,500 light trucks, cars and Jeeps. It was the best month for Chrysler since the past five years and for the other carmakers too the month was the fastest pace of sales seen this year. General Motors Co (NYSE:GM) reported the slowest growth in October, with only sales of 186,895 units, a growth of around 1.8 percent. Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F) announced a growth of 6.4 percent, with the sale of 167,502 vehicles.
