October Sales Help Automakers 3Q Results

The United States automobile sales increased last month, helping Detroit Automakers to defy the sluggish economy. The carmaker who benefited the most last month was Chrysler. The automaker reported that its auto sales rose by 27 percent. Chrysler reported on Tuesday that the company has sold more than 114,500 light trucks, cars and Jeeps. It was the best month for Chrysler since the past five years and for the other carmakers too the month was the fastest pace of sales seen this year. General Motors Co (NYSE:GM) reported the slowest growth in October, with only sales of 186,895 units, a growth of around 1.8 percent. Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F) announced a growth of 6.4 percent, with the sale of 167,502 vehicles. First CNG-Powered Ford Transit Connect Taxis Begin Servicing Greater Los Angeles Area

DEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 8, 2011 – California’s first compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered Ford Transit Connect Taxis hit the greater Los Angeles area today, giving taxi owners, drivers and passengers a chance to help the environment one small trip at a time. California Yellow Cab of Orange County put its first 10 Transit Connect Taxis into service – marked by an event celebrating the increased presence of CNG use in California. Clean Energy, which owns and operates CNG filling stations, also participated in the event. The first 10 Transit Connect Taxis are part of an order for 50 units that California Yellow Cab plans to put into service by 2012. In addition, Yellow Cab of Anaheim also ordered 69 units, bringing the total number of CNG Transit Connect Taxis that will soon be servicing Southern California to more than 100. Ford up 11% in August

DEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 1, 2011 – Ford Motor Company’s August sales totaled 175,220, up 11 percent versus a year ago – driven by 16 percent higher Ford brand sales and 25 percent higher sales for Lincoln. “Ford’s fuel-efficient cars, crossovers and trucks continue winning over consumers in the marketplace,” said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “Our new product lineup – especially our newest cars – continues helping Ford grow even stronger and gain market share on the fiercely competitive East and West coasts.” Ford Brand Cars: Up 10 Percent Fiesta, Fusion and Mustang posted higher sales than a year ago. Fiesta sales totaled 5,833, up 76 percent, and Fusion sales were 17,925, up 5 percent. DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 2, 2011 – Ford’s July sales totaled 180,865, up 9 percent versus a year ago – driven by 13 percent higher Ford brand sales and 40 percent higher sales for Lincoln. “We are encouraged to see the stronger pace of auto sales, along with continued customer demand for our fuel-efficient cars, utilities and trucks,” said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. Ford Brand Cars: Up 8 Percent Fiesta and Fusion posted higher sales than a year ago. Fiesta sales totaled 5,296, up 58 percent, and Fusion sales were 19,318 – a record for the month of July. Fusion has set a monthly sales record in each of the last 11 months. In the first seven months of 2011, Fusion was Ford’s top-selling car, with sales totaling 151,004, up 17 percent versus a year ago. Ford June Sales up 14 percent; Cars, Utilities Lead the Way; Fuel-Efficient New Trucks also Regain Momentum

DEARBORN, Mich., July 1, 2011 – Ford’s June sales totaled 194,114, up 14 percent versus a year ago. Cars and utilities posted the largest gains, while trucks also posted increases, rebounding from May. “Strong demand for Ford’s fuel-efficient cars and crossovers continues, and we now are seeing truck buyers return to the market with significant appetite for our fuel-efficient V6 engines,” said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. Cars Ford’s two all-new small cars combined for 26,920 sales in June, up 66 percent versus a year ago. Fiesta sales were 5,535, and Focus sales were 21,385, up 41 percent versus a year ago.
