October Sales Help Automakers 3Q Results

The United States automobile sales increased last month, helping Detroit Automakers to defy the sluggish economy. The carmaker who benefited the most last month was Chrysler. The automaker reported that its auto sales rose by 27 percent. Chrysler reported on Tuesday that the company has sold more than 114,500 light trucks, cars and Jeeps. It was the best month for Chrysler since the past five years and for the other carmakers too the month was the fastest pace of sales seen this year. General Motors Co (NYSE:GM) reported the slowest growth in October, with only sales of 186,895 units, a growth of around 1.8 percent. Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F) announced a growth of 6.4 percent, with the sale of 167,502 vehicles. GM up 18% in August

DETROIT – General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) today reported total sales of 218,479 vehicles in August, an 18-percent increase compared with August 2010. Retail deliveries were up 22 percent compared with the same month a year ago and accounted for 74 percent of GM sales. GM Sales Increase 8 % in July

DETROIT – Driven by continued strong demand for the company’s lineup of fuel-efficient cars and crossovers, and by improving full-size pickup truck sales, General Motors dealers in the United States reported 214,915 total sales in July, an 8-percent gain compared to July 2010. Retail sales for GM’s brands rose 6 percent for the month compared to a year ago, and were 1 percent higher than June. In July, total sales of the Chevrolet Cruze were above 20,000 for the fourth-straight month, delivering 24,648 units. The 32 miles-per-gallon highway-rated GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Equinox compact crossovers saw a combined retail sales increase of 73 percent during the month. GM Invests $328 Million

FLINT, Mich. – General Motors will invest $328 million to prepare its plant in Flint, Mich. to build the next generation of Chevrolet and GMC full-size pickup trucks, creating or retaining 150 jobs. The plant, which currently has 2,047 employees, builds the hot-selling heavy-duty versions of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. GM June U.S. Sales Improve 11 Percent on Strong Retail Demand for Fuel-Efficient Vehicles

DETROIT – General Motors dealers in the United States reported 215,358 total sales in June, an 11-percent gain compared to June 2010. The gain was the result of continued solid retail demand for the company’s wide selection of fuel-efficient vehicles. Retail sales for GM’s brands rose 16 percent for the month, compared to a year ago, and were 4 percent higher than May. For the month, Chevrolet Cruze had retail sales 153 percent higher than the Chevrolet Cobalt it replaced, and total sales above 20,000 for the third straight month. The 32 MPG highway-rated GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Equinox compact crossovers saw a combined retail sales increase of 78 percent during the month. Passenger car and crossover retail sales also rose substantially, up 33 percent and 24 percent, respectively. GM Invests $20 Million in Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – General Motors will invest $20 million in machinery and equipment for its Fairfax Assembly plant to add future technologies and improvements to the Buick LaCrosse including eAssist, a light electrification technology that will boost highway fuel economy by 25 percent over the current model. "The LaCrosse has been critical to the resurgence of Buick, bringing many new customers to Buick showrooms," said GM Manufacturing Manager Jim Glynn. "This investment to improve an already strong car will help us continue winning converts to the brand."
